My fitness journey began later in life than many others. I didn’t play sports growing up, however, much like the rest of my family I was a naturally thin person and it didn’t take any work to be “fit”. And then I had kids. Like many people, life began to win the battle, and what used to be easy, suddenly became out of reach.
Not unlike many of my friends, I woke up sometime in my late 30’s and realized I hadn’t taken care of myself in a long time. As we go through the various journeys of life, marriage, careers, parenthood, we lose track of ourselves while we devote so much to those we care about or towards our goals. After my second child I started to work out in order to get back my energy levels and even began to play some recreational sports. I have been playing soccer, flag football, and participating in group fitness classes for over ten years now.
I have always had a passion for caring for others. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia. I have had the privilege of working with several excellent Doctors of physical therapy and exercise physiologists and have gained knowledge, as well as respect and compassion for those striving to improve their lives. I hope to share my passion for a healthy lifestyle with others as well as giving those who have found themselves in a place physically that they don’t want to be.
I am a certified personal trainer through the International Sports Sciences Association and am working towards my P90X qualification.
